Tove Valley Broadband were runners up in the prestigious national NextGen award for Rural Networks, the award being presented at a House of Lords dinner on Thursday 5th November 2015 by the Earl of Erroll. Eric reports that for a time, they were locked into the Palace of Westminster because of demonstrations in the streets around Parliament Square but really, what was expected on Guy Fawkes night?

Tove Valley Broadband secured a £108,658 grant from DEFRA to help roll out superfast broadband to 650 properties in the Upper Tove valley. The villages which have benefited are Abthorpe, Bradden, Slapton, Wappenham, Weedon Lois and Weston. The community based superfast broadband service delivers true, better than 30Mbps symmetrical download and upload speeds to more than 50% of properties in the area. This work was completed towards the end of March 2015.
TVB attracted 275 subscribers from a possible 650 in the first year and there are now more than 450 properties connected. There have been many reports from users who are saying that fast broadband has made a significant change in their lives - both social and work related. Initial surveys suggested that there were 65% of properties where a home-worker or business was present and we are pleased that these people now have a little less stress in their life.
